Don Surber gives us this: Just say no to a 5-day week, Congress

Regular readers know my favorite congressman is Nick Joe Rahall. He likes to party and he never gets any "work" done. Considering that most of the congressional work consists of treading on my liberties and taking away my money, give me the lazy partygoers.

As much as I can't stand living in Texas, you gotta hand it to them for their 140 day legislative session held every other year. They can't get a thing done in that amount of time... and we're all the happier for it.

I think the main reason Ronald Reagan was elected President in 1980 was that Jimmy Carter campaigned on the idea that he was working hard and Reagan wouldn't. After four years of the "accomplishments" of the Carter administration, people wanted someone who wasn't going to screw with things--who in fact was dead-set against "doing anything" about the real or perceived problems that this nation faced. And things worked out well, all things considered. After all, the left in this nation is still pissed off at him...
