There's nothing wrong with talking to yourself. It's when you start holding entire converstations with yourself that you have to worry.

Oh, I've been doing that for years. My mother was seriously worried about me when I was younger, and asked my uncle, a neurosurgeon, about it. He asked her, "Where does he talk to himself?" She told him, "The bathroom." He said, "That's terrible...I talk to myself in the basement."

I was having problems with my internet at home during finals, so I went to the library to take my speech test. This man at the computer next to me told me I would make a great writer because I talked to myself. I don't know why he came to that conclusion, but I thanked him nonetheless.

Writers do have a tendency to carry on conversations with themselves, probably because they want to know how the words sound together. It's actually a talent most people ought to develop.

I guess I'm a born writer, then!
