Day By Day hits it right on the head.

And, in a similar vein, Newsbusters reports on a recent article in Psychology Today. bayarts, is there a department over at UCBerkeley that makes this stuff up?

well..uh...I read the article.

AS a liberal, I have to agree with everything the Psycology Today article said about liberals.

As an intelligent person, I have to agree with Newsbusters.

Thanks for looking it over. I don't look for people to agree with me; I look for people to understand where I'm coming from. Articles like this, that paint me and other "conservatives" as sociopaths, don't promote that.

Those who think the world is highly dangerous and those with the greatest fear of death are the most likely to be conservative.

So... Al Gore is a conservative?

There's a lot to be said for the point that "liberals" are the real "conservatives". A conservative is, by definition, someone who wants to preserve the status quo. Now, think about it: who wants to end Social Security, make it possible for parents to send their kids to any school they want on the government's dime, and get jobs for the unemployed? The "conservatives"! And who wants to save Social Security, maintain the monopoly that government has on education, keep the welfare state, and in general preserve the New Deal/Great Society role of government? The "liberals"!

I heard someone say something the other day that I really agreed with. I wish I could remember who said it so I could quote them, but they said something to the effect that if Democrat and Republican really meant Liberal and Libertarian then we might actually get somewhere. Personally, I'd just be happy if people actually read or listened to whatever they're commenting on instead of just jumping on the bandwagon (oh yes, that was a great bit of psychological research there).
