There's a place for people who laugh at nothing...

I met this lady about ten years ago (the night after I met lourdesmont, as a matter of fact) at a book signing in Syracuse, NY. Her book Serious Laughter got me through losing my job and having a stroke. Just thought you'd be interested.

She's frellin' AWESOME.

I'm going to post this everywhere--I know some people who need it, too.

I remember that I just happened to walk into the Barnes and Noble as she started her presentation, and I just sat there transfixed, she was just that good.

Another lady who helped when I ended up out of work was Jane Riley, who lives not far from me and had about 100 or so out of work guys laughing like nuts the day I saw her.

Some days, when I get totally stressed out at work, I think of the most lunatic aspect of what's going on (which isn't difficult), and I start laughing. And laughing. And laughing some more.

I have a couple of coworkers who get this, and they get to laughing with me.

Most of the rest of them think we're nuts, but I'm going to be alive long after they're gone, I think...

And Paul always makes me laugh--it's one of the reasons I married him. One of the first things I remember him saying to me on the phone was, "You know, it's OK to laugh..."

His giving me permission to do it was what started to turn my head around, and let me know that I was going to be OK--that, actually, I was OK.

It's a gift that none of us use nearly enough.

I have very fond memories of that night, thank you VERY much!

And thank you for sharing this lady. I have read a few books over the years on the healing power of laughter but somehow I have missed hers. Think I am gonna go need to find it now!

(((HUGS CHOO!!!)))

I regret that I didn't call you at work the next day and tell you about her. I immediately thought, Lisa would really benefit from this....

(((hugs ya back)))
