Quick update before I do my NaNo writing:

Met with a guy from the company where I had done the trial presentation on Friday. He thinks I'd be a good fit and wants to get me doing some work for them very soon. Still haven't heard from the other contract, but at least I have something productive to work on. The product I'm learning is a lot more complex than I thought, but still pretty easy to understand, and, believe it or not, the degree in Production and Operations management is actually helping me to understand it. I knew it was a good thing to go into almost 30 years ago. I mean, how many people do you know that actually get to use their college degree?

I'm still waiting to hear on the other contract. If it's to be, then I'll be hearing very shortly. I'm going to multitask and work on both. There's a good incentive to do that.

The new icon is the Magikist sign that used to stand next to the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago. There were three of them standing around the city, one on the far south side, one on the near west side, and this one at either Belmont or Montrose and the Kennedy (near the Morton Salt plant), which was the last one to be torn down, earlier this year. A priest friend of mine once said that he wanted to buy the sign and hang it between the two steeples of our old church with an appropriately religious line emblazoned across it. It's funny how things like this become such icons...anyway, that's the story behind it...
