I'm spending this week at my client's office to prepare myself for next week's training session. From what I gather, I'm going to have one full-time student in the class, one part-timer and one person who needs something completely different. In any event, I'm going in so that I don't spend this week looking for excuses not to work. It's not as though I'm getting paid for this, although it does count toward my instructor certification, and I will be getting a check at the end of that. So, it's worth something, and the goodwill that I build up by showing them how much I'm busting my ass to figure out their product and their teaching methods is worth as much as money, at this stage of my career.
Speaking of which, on Friday I saw the guy who helped me get my first independent assignment (last August, when I was preparing to go to the Philippines). He had nothing but good things to say about me, and told me that there are some assignments coming down the pike that he might be able to use me on. That's a good thing.
Looks like it's a night of reruns for those of us who don't watch football. This might be a good night to finally finish Pipsqueak, by Brian M. Wiprud. It looked funny when I picked it up a couple of months ago, but I haven't actually sat down to read it in a while. Maybe I can finish it tonight.
