Do me and everyone that's had cancer or lost someone to cancer a favor, please, and click on the button above? The American Cancer Ablation Center is using thermal ablation to destroy cancer cells, either by burning them with microwaves or freezing them. This can be a great alternative to chemotherapy or radiation therapy, far less invasive and quite possibly more effective. They're working to let people know that they're out there. Chris Muir, who draws the Day By Day cartoon, has a sister who is being treated here, apparently with some luck. Thanks in advance.

Sad to say, we lost Sherman, our second-oldest cat, today.

He'd been diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago, and regardless of how much insulin we gave him, he didn't do well. The vet palpated him today, and discovered a mass near his pancreas. I was at work, so Mary, bless her, made the decision and told me about it when I called to let her know that I was on my way home.

Sherman was very special. I remember calling home from the Raleigh airport 13 years ago, and Mary pleading with me not to kill her. I had no idea what she was talking about, so she told me that she had adopted a kitten. We had no idea what to call him, so we watched him for a few days, and noticed he marched around the house like a little general. Thus, Sherman. He was part Siamese, solid black (as you can see), talkative and formed a very special bond with Mary.
