Ferdy points out the intricacies of government accounting in this entry. I lived in Illinois for most of my life. Most of my family still lives there. This doesn't surprise me.

Tom G. Palmer has this Libertarian Ode to Coffee. Also this about the rate of return of lobbying.

The Top One List has this Top One Hollywood Hypocrisy. Those of us who are writers, particularly budding screenwriters, should take heed. (Speaking of which, has anyone noticed that CBS will be replacing "Courting Alex" with "The New Adventures of the Old Christine"?)

I'm listening to an album that I downloaded from eMusic called Terry Gibbs and Buddy DeFranco Play Steve Allen. I'm assuming, if you're my age, you know who Steve Allen is (writer, comic, talk show host, raconteur, musician/composer, and hero to yours truly). Terry Gibbs plays the vibraphone, Buddy DeFranco plays the clarinet, and they were both in the band that played for Steve Allen's TV show in the 70's. Anyway, I'm listening through headphones, and I noticed that the lower register of Terry's vibraphone is playing in the left channel, the higher register in the right channel, so you get this sense that you're sitting right in the middle of it...

I know. I'm strange.
