Mark Steyn from the Chicago Sun-Times tells us that "Old U.S.S.R. made Old Europe look new". It's good to see that since the Tribune did a 180-degree turn politically (no doubt to try and keep its lakefront-lefty readership happy), the Sun-Times has picked up with it. The Sun-Times was always the working-man's paper; I never actually read it until moving to the South Side.

I'm sad to report that Fr. Robert Drinan, SJ, former congressman from Massachusetts and law professor at Georgetown. As with my friend at Rhymes With Right, while I don't agree with a lot of what Fr. Drinan espoused, he was admirable, not only for his work in the Congress but also for his faith and his obedience to Pope John Paul II, who ordered that priests not hold public office. And, as a kid with twelve years of Jesuit education, he's part of the family.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam and requiescat in pace, Father.

Hat tip to the Grouchy Old Cripple in Atlanta:

The world expert on European wasps was strolling past a record shop. A sign caught his eye: "New Album - Wasps of the World" The man asked to hear the album and was given headphones. Three minutes later, he announced, "I am the world expert on European wasps and the sounds that they make and yet I recognize none of those."

The clerk offered to play another track. And another. And another. Still, the expert did not hear sounds he recognized. Suddenly, the clerk realized his mistake. "I'm really sorry," he said.

"I was playing you the bee side."
