Traveled to Minneapolis this afternoon, and it was actually not too bad of an experience. Got right through security, the gate was right near the escalator, was as comfortable as one can be in a seat made for a person half of my size, and the flight was all right, save for a little convective activity when we approached MSP. The hotel is nice enough, I had a good dinner at the hotel restaurant, and I'm relaxing in preparation for tomorrow and the rest of the week.

It was even hotter here than it was in Atlanta when I left. It was 97 degrees (that's like 36 centigrades, for those of you who insist on metrics) and very humid. We're supposed to get a bad thunderstorm here, and it's supposed to be cooler tomorrow. Good.

Oh, I just heard that NBC has yet another reality show! "The Law Firm"! Wonder if the weekly loser gets run over by an ambulance? Honestly, who the hell watches this crap? I could speculate, but I'd really piss off a whole bunch of you if I did.

I just saw an updated forecast for here, and it looks like it's going to heat up again tomorrow. We never did get the forecasted rain, either. Wonder what I'm walking out into?

I have little patience with *reality* television...in fact I'm thinking of getting my cable taken out and using the set only for watching DVDs. I watch way too much television, and this heat only encourages it. I have a/c in the bedroom only, because I HAVE to sleep, but the humidity and heat in the rst of the apartment discourages any physical activity besides reading or watching television.

I hope it cools off for you or, barring that, the humidity lessens.

Mary complains a lot about feeling like she watches too much TV, too, and occasionally wants to do the same. There's a lot of trash on TV, but there's also a lot of really good stuff, particularly the cable stations who are creating their own programming (A&E, USA), the movie channels (particularly Turner Classic Movies, my current favorite) and a lot of good educational and informative programming and a lot that's very entertaining. The networks are realizing that they no longer have a government-guaranteed monopoly, and as such they're desperate, and will do nearly anything for ratings.

It is much cooler today, thanks.
