Had a wonderful time at the home of our friends who moved here a few years ago from Chicago. We had a more-or-less traditional Christmas Eve meatless meal, then watched this show, which provided a much-needed dose of nostalgia. If you want to know one of the many, many, many reasons that I'm so weird, and you get WGN from Chicago on your cable or satellite, it shows again at 3 PM ET tomorrow. I'm going to see if I can get it on DVD.

Speaking of TV schedules, I set up the VCR to tape my friend (I spoke of her here) on the CBS Morning show, and somehow ended up with a rather bizarre cartoon and no Helen. Then I realized that we get CBS on an affiliate, who can shuffle and play the programs pretty much at will. Oh, well...did anyone see it?

Mary and I are going to celebrate Christmas like we always do: we've been to early Mass and to our friends' house, now we're going to fall asleep watching the Pope celebrate Midnight Mass at the Vatican (by tape delay, obviously, since it's already happened). Tomorrow, we'll spend the day reading, napping, doing whatever, although I'm almost certain that Law and Order or one of its mutations will be a big part of it. DONGDONG! I may get here to do an update tomorrow, or maybe not until Monday.

Merry Christmas!
