I like today's Winger. Kind of reminds me of other situations.

======

Mary and I were at the doctor the other day (her first meeting with Dr. G.) and, while we were waiting, a woman came out of the examining room with her two daughters, a girl of about 11 and Sophie, who was maybe 3. While Mom is settling up with the doctor, Sophie walks up to Mary and me and demands to know our names. Then, after a pause, she points at me and declares "You've got a big belly!" Then, she says, "Can I see it?" Mother had the older daughter take Sophie to the car...the doctor said that the little girl was like that all the time...

I guess when they're still 3 yrs. old, the cuteness factor still weighs a lot....but any other than that, it would have just been rude.

I thought it was funny. Mary thought it was an absolute riot. She's told everyone we know about it. Maybe the fact that it was such a rude thing to say is why we found it so amusing.

I have a brother who is 20 years younger than I am, so I remember a lot of that. He got on a kick once where everyone had to be weighed. He'd carry the scale around with him and set it down in front of you, and you were expected to get on.
