I fell asleep 5-10 minutes into Courting Alex, the latest sitcom from the oeuvre of Jenna Elfman. I think I saw just about everything that they had been showing in the commercials for the last two months in those few minutes. Mary's theory is that, given the amount of hype it's gotten, it must really suck. Based on what I saw last night, I'd have to agree.

Anyway, in case anyone was interested.

Jeeze, John. It really doesn't sound very good. That's too bad. I think Jenna Elfman is such a cute woman and that she has a real chrismatic quality about her. I wasn't even aware that this sitcom was in the works. I'm so out of the TV loop! There are still the 2 or 3 programs that I like, but there is just so much junk on TV these days. ugh.

Are you guys "Huff" fans at all? We really love that one. It's a drama...but comedic at the same time. Excellent writing, production and acting. I highly recommend it if you've not watched it yet.

I haven't even heard of "Huff". I see it's on Showtime, which we don't get (it's available but we see no point in paying for it). We watch "House" with Hugh Laurie on Tuesday nights, which is good; unfortunately, it's been preempted by "American Idol" for the last couple of weeks.

I agree that Jenna Elfman is gorgeous and can be very funny. Unfortunately, this isn't the show. I can't say that I'm not a bit biased, because the show that was in that time slot ("Out of Practice") had really grown on me, but still, it had not only Jenna but also Billy Connolly, who can be a real character, and Dabney Coleman, who's been in a lot of shows that I've liked, so you'd think it would be better. Guess not.

I was obviously in the wrong line when they handed out the genes for sitcom watching. I've never met one I liked enough to keep up with beyond maybe the first few months.
