Ha - I took it, too; and it did not tell me anything I did not already know ...

Me? I'm going to Purgatory - which the Catholic church is trying to do away with.

Dang.

I ain't going anywhere when I die.

Does this mean I get to stay?

What do you mean, they're doing away with Purgatory? I didn't get the memo on that.

Limbo used to be where the souls of unbaptized babies went to wait for Jesus to return for the Final Judgment. I think Vatican II decided that the souls of innocents would be taken to heaven, so they had no doctrinal reason to keep it around. George Carlin used to talk about this; he was worried that, when the Church did away with Limbo, that the souls there were just sort of cut loose to float around. Purgatory, on the other hand, was where you went if you died with venial sins on your soul. Mortal sins sent you right to hell.

We used to have a game called Catholic Trivia, kind of like Trivial Pursuit but with questions like these (and, rather than playing for wedges, you had a bingo card). I was really good at it, and when my stepfather (who had been a priest) and I were on a team together, we were invincible.
