An interesting tidbit from The Simple Guide to Customs and Etiquette of China, by Caroline Mason and Geoffrey Murray:

A political textbook studied by 200 million schoolchildren has been changed so that they learn less about Lenin and more about the market economy. The lessons on ideology have been altered at least ten times since 1950. From autumn 1998, students will learn about shares, stocks, corporations, finance, taxation and labour contracts, in place of class struggle, land reform and "long live Leninism".

Hmm.

There was more I had to say, but I think this about says it all.
