Thank you Bryan. You and I are kind of birds of a feather, but you are really one of a kind. I admire your power of expression, and particularly your ability to attract friends of such widely varying beliefs. Some of those discussions you stir up represent the best of LJ.

Thank you John. What a nice birthday gift, and totally unexpected. You are one of the reasons I came back to LJ after about a year's absense. I missed your wit and wisdom. Thanks for being a friend.

Yes, those Midwestern Jesuits did what they could with this non-Catholic kid from the northern end of Appalachia. They introduced me to Milton Friedman and thereby got me thinking into economics and political philosophy. Come to think of it, that's about what education is supposed to do.
