Stuff like this drives me nuts...

ATLANTA (TICKER) -- The Atlanta Braves may not be in the thick of the playoff chase, but two of its players are in the midst of another battle - the race for the National League batting crown.

The Braves have won their last five in a row and seven of their last ten. They're 4.5 games behind the Mets in the NL East and 5.5 games back of the Padres for the wild card with nine to play. Hardly out of the playoff chase, especially the way they've played recently and knowing what can happen at the end of the season. Difficult, yes, but not impossible.

Chipper Jones and Edgar Renteria would be the first ones to tell you that they'd gladly trade being the NL batting champ if it meant getting into the postseason. Of course, the Braves stand a better chance of getting into the postseason if one of them wins the batting title...
