One of those lines in this article that sets my teeth on edge:

The Indians haven't been to the Series since 1997 and haven't won a title since '48, when they beat the Boston Braves. Cleveland's 59-year drought is only eclipsed by the Chicago Cubs, those lovable losers whose futility now extends to 99 years this fall after an early-October flame out.
"Lovable losers"? I'm tired of hearing that. They're just losers.

The Cubs are cursed because years ago, they wouldn't let a fellow bring his pet goat into the game.

The Cubs always make me feel better about the Royals, who are almost as bad.

They've been using the Billy Goat Curse to make excuses for their not winning since 1945. Doesn't make up for the fact that they're a lousy organization who is more concerned with filling their ballpark than bringing home a championship. The Royals are at least a good organization that lacks the money to put a winning club on the field. The difference between the two is that I believe the Royals will win a World Series long before the Cubs ever will.

I'd say that's probably true... Trouble is, the Royals are such a lousy team that no-one wants to spend the money to go and watch them play.
