Tuesday midday update @ 12:15 pm

Current Location: 30062

So, the plumber came back yesterday, checked the pipes coming out of the disposal, and said that it was full of coffee grounds and that they were the reason things were all backed up. He charged us to clean out the pipe and we agreed not to put coffee grounds down the disposal, which we had been doing for close to twenty years with no negative repercussions to that point.

Needless to say, the sink started backing up again.

One of the things I love about Mary is that she can really get pissed when the situation calls for it. This was a situation that called for it. She called the plumbing company and made them promise to send a different plumber this time, and to apply the money we've already paid to the new bill.

So, we're waiting for the new guy, who will be here before six.

Of course, I didn't get out yesterday, and probably won't get out today, which will make it five days since I last left the house. I've got serious cabin fever.

On the up side, I managed to fix a problem this morning, so I feel pretty good.

Finally, a meme from anderyn:

Your Score: Ogham

You scored

You are Ogham, an ancient alphabet used by a number of peoples in northern Europe and still in limited use by some people in Europe as a "secret language". You're all structure and tedious to use, but have outlasted all opposition so far and will likely continue to do so. Just don't expect to be liked.

That's interesting...I was informed by a technician that sending coffee grounds down a garbage disposal was actually good for it, in that it helped to sharpen the blades as well as kill odors...

I hope you get it resolved soonest!

I've been sending coffee grounds and egg shells down the disposal for years with no ill effects. Yet, both plumbers that came to the house said don't. Go figure. We got it fixed: the guy who fixed the original problem caused the second.
