The meeting yesterday went better than I expected. No backpedaling and equivocation from the vendor and a commitment from the development organization to provide help. Now, we just have to make sure that it's going to work.
I'm spending the next few days in class. I'm not particularly interested in the subject matter (indeed, I don't know that the subject matter is going to be all that pertinent to what I'm doing), but it's nice to sit in class for a while and not have to worry about what's going on in the rest of my crazy world. When I get bored, I can find a way to fill the time.
I did hear from my high school English teacher yesterday. She's doing well; she just retired from one job and had another job land in her lap. She's had a daughter since I last saw her, who just graduated from college. All of this was kind of disconcerting, because I remember her as a quite attractive woman in her late 20's. Then I remembered that she knew me as a skinny 16 year old kid with big glasses and a lot of teeth. I still have the teeth and the glasses, mind you. Has it really been 32 years?
I've had the damn "Batman" theme running through my head (the one from the TV show). I realized yesterday, for maybe the first time, that it's just a 12 bar blues, and you could jam on it for hours. I don't know why I didn't think of that 30 years ago.
I know, this is weird. But then, so am I.
