I never made it to the Museum of Science and Industry

I had gone back to my room on Tuesday afternoon for a few minutes' rest when my cellphone rang. It was my boss, who had been in attendance on Monday when my session at the user conference didn't go so well. He asked if I could meet him and bring a copy of my presentation for Wednesday morning. I knew that wasn't a good thing.

Essentially, he told me that he was going to have someone else give my Wednesday presentation, and asked me for the remainder of the materials that I had printed and created for it. He then told me that I could go home, and that we'd talk more about things when he got home after the conference. I initially considered going to the museum, then decided, no, I probably didn't want to be hanging around, especially when I'd be tempted to have a few beers and tell a few people off.

So, I packed, called the airport, checked out of the hotel and left. I don't want to be where I'm not wanted.

It's interesting that, earlier on Tuesday, I heard a remarkable presentation by Mark Victor Hansen, one of the authors of the Chicken Soup series of books. He said that when confronted with rejection, you should learn one word: NEXT! Sage advice for this time of my life.

I'm now sorry that I let my boss talk me out of quitting back in January.

I'm having a massage this afternoon. That should help.
